Whenever I think of ’80s music, I think of spending Friday nights spinning the stacks of wax at KSCR with my ol’ pals Weyman, Eb, and others.

I remember recording a reel to reel audition tape with my fraternity brother, Rod Redmond, in the late fall of 74 to submit for a new radio station planning to air in 75…KSCR. Well, in spite of the tape, we got the gig and had a show in the Spring of 75 on Tues/Thurs mornings at 7 (can you believe at that hour?)

Great memories and even greater friends gained through my association with KSCR. Support the endowment drive…”Tell a Friend” and Fight On!

I was a DJ for all the semesters I spent at USC, and served as news director beginning in my junior year. With only one other staff member, I put together a newscast that ran weekdays at noon. This provided me far more hands on experience than any of the journalism school’s requirements!

I’m a former KSCR Program Director and General Manager. KSCR gave me the opportunity to learn and grow as a broadcaster during my time at USC. It was a great experience. I want to do what I can to make sure the station continues to provide that opportunity for students in the future.

I helped get KSCR off the ground in the late 70’s, worked as the morning DJ on Tuesday and Thursday and received invaluable experience.

KSCR DJ 1999-2003, Metal Director 2001-2002, & General Manager 2002-2003. KSCR was one of the best parts of my USC experience, and where I met some of my best friends that I still keep up with to this day. I’m glad we finally have an option to give $$ to KSCR… I was getting tired of getting thank-you letters from KUSC! I somehow got roped into building this website – so if anything gets wonky please let me know :-)

Dumb luck and a chance meeting with KSCR’s founding GM, Bob Moore, resulted in a morning radio show in 1975. I teamed up with my mentor and fraternity brother, Mike Hugill — calling ourselves the H&R Blockbusters. Yeah, I know. My only excuse was that it was the ’70s. Where else can you have that kind of experience? Which is why we MUST preserve KSCR. Kudos to Bob Moore, Rosemary O’Brien, Justin Evans, Julie Fosgate, Nicole Williams (all KSCR alums) and Dr. Michael Jackson and Patrick Bailey of USC for all of their inspiration and effots to create an endowment fund for KSCR — join us and let’s keep this thing going for another 35 years!

So of my best memories of college involve KSCR. I started out as a guest on a call-in show, and ending up staying all four years!

I was a DJ from 2003 to 2006. I loved working at KSCR and encouraging creativity in student activities. USC needs more creative groups on campus. Working at KSCR gave me the background I needed to DJ at clubs around Los Angeles, and another student run radio station in England when I was studying abroad. Not to mention access to loads of new music and events. I’m excited for KSCR’s move to the center of campus, thanks to everyone involved.

I was a member of the small courageous group of students who created the student-run radio station in 1975. With Bob Moore at the helm as the station’s first GM, our desire was to create an outlet for student expression. That continues to be the goal today. Looking forward to the station’s new studios in the new Ronald Tutor Campus Center in 2010, coincidentally KSCR’s 35th Anniversary, KSCR will be moving literally and figuratively into an exciting new realm. As a KSCR Friend the hopes and dreams will live on and KSCR can and will continue to thrive!

Some of the best times I had in college were through KSCR. I was a DJ for 7 semesters, webmaster for 4, and music director for 1.
